On Wednesday, January 15, 1908, our beloved Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority was founded on the campus of Howard University, in Washington, D.C. Today, we celebrate 117 years of sisterhood, scholarship, and service to all mankind. Alpha Kappa Alpha was founded on January 15, 1908 at Howard University’s Miner Hall by nine women, becoming the first Greek-letter organization established by African-American college-educated women.
