This is the official website for International Dance Day. International Dance Day was created by the Dance Committee of the International Theatre Institute ITI, the main partner for the performing arts of UNESCO.

The intention of the International Dance Day Message is to celebrate dance, revel in the universality of this art form, cross all political, cultural and ethnic barriers, and bring people together with a common language - dance.

The Online Celebration of International Dance Day 2021 starts on Thursday 29 April 2021 at 14h00 Paris Time. The main celebration contains a video of dance performances from ITI Centres and other members.

Almost all the Centres of ITI are not able to celebrate International Dance Day with an event because of the outbreak of the Covid-19 virus. Therefore, the General Secretariat Team of ITI initiates that all the members and friends celebrate International Dance Day 2020 - online.

Dance venues, theatre and dance institutions, theatre, dance and performing arts universities, government institutions, ministries of cultures, dance makers and dance lovers all over the world are invited to celebrate International Dance Day.

The goals of International Dance Day are. To promote dance in all its forms across the world. To make people aware of the value of dance in all its forms. To enable the dance community to promote their work on a broad scale, so that governments and opinion leaders are aware of the value and importance of dance in all its forms and support it.

The International Theatre Institute ITI is pleased to announce that, with celebrations in various forms in different dance communities all over the world, the International Dance Day 2023 main celebration will happen from 24 to 30 April in Shanghai.
