Metallica’s stop at Lane Stadium years in the making
BLACKSBURG, Va. – Virginia Tech’s luring of Metallica to play a concert at Lane Stadium in Blacksburg next year offers a lesson in the importance of dreaming big. Ahead of Saturday’s match-up with Rutgers, officials laid out how their big bet paid off.
Metallica announces performance in Lane Stadium
Metallica has extended their M72 World Tour to perform in Lane Stadium on May 7, 2025. Enter Sandman has become part of the Virginia Tech identity and is renowned for exhibiting school spirit. The Virginia Tech football team runs out to Enter Sandman at the start of every home game. The tradition dates to Aug. 27, 2000.
Metallica to play Lane Stadium in May
BLACKSBURG, Va. (WDBJ) - Rock band Metallica is headed to Blacksburg. The band, whose 1991 song “ Enter Sandman ” is used as a football anthem by the Virginia Tech Hokies, will perform at Lane Stadium May 7, 2025. The show at Lane Stadium will mark the culmination of 20+ years of “Enter Sandman” playing as the Hokies take the field.
