Suspected Kuki militants burnt to death two Meitei people in Jiribam region of Manipur, media reports said. The two dead people are aged 76 and 54. Kuki militants also abducted three women aged 60, 31, and 25 and three children aged eight, two and a half years, and an eight-month-old, reported UNI news agency.

Police say they recovered several weapons and that 3 CRPF men were injured in the incident. Kuki groups say the men were not militants, but 'village defence volunteers'.

The armed militants had also attacked the Borobekra Police Station and set three-four abandoned houses belonging to the Meitei community in Jakuradhor, on fire.
