Hermen Hulst No Longer PlayStation Co-CEO, Still in Charge of First-Party
Ex-Guerrilla Games managing director Hermen Hulst was appointed co-CEO alongside Platform Business Group bigwig Hideaki Nishino following the departure of Jim Ryan. The pair’s tenure officially started on 1st June, 2024.

Last year it was announced that Nishino and Hermen Hulst would replace Jim Ryan as joint CEOs, with Nishino appointed CEO of SIE’s Platform Business Group and Hulst – who was previously head of PlayStation Studios and Guerrilla Games – becoming CEO of its Studio Business Group.

Nishino and Hulst originally stepped into their co-CEO roles in 2024, taking over from outgoing CEO Jim Ryan. In a statement, Nishino said that Sony plans to grow the PlayStation community in new ways such as IP expansion and technology innovation.
