Universal Pictures announced Christopher Nolan's next film will be truly epic. He's bringing Homer to the big screen with his version of The Odyssey.

Christopher Nolan's next movie will be an adaptation of The Odyssey, and he's already keeping the promise he made about his post-Oppenheimer work.

Markoe also revealed that the camera displays will also show frame lines for the native 1.43:1 IMAX film format and also IMAX 1.90:1 (used for all IMAX digital screens) and standard 2.40:1. Of course other aspect ratios are available and the display can be set up lines for whatever ratio is preferred.

Universal has dropped a cheeky (early) synopsis of Nolan’s next film just as everyone started their holiday break.

“Christopher Nolan’s next film ‘The Odyssey’ is a mythic action epic shot across the world using brand new IMAX film technology,” the tweet reads. “The film brings Homer’s foundational saga to IMAX film screens for the first time and opens in theaters everywhere on July 17, 2026.”

Nolan is also behind epic films including “Inception,” “The Dark Knight,” “Dunkirk” and his most recent film “Oppenheimer,” which scored big at last year’s Oscars when it took home the trophy for best picture. Nolan won that award as a producer, and also took home the Academy Award for best director.
