Multiple brush fires erupted in San Diego’s North County early Tuesday morning, prompting a fast response from firefighters and mandatory evacuations.

A brush fire that started overnight in the Bonsall area prompted evacuations as it threatened structures in the same area where a 2017 wildfire burned down more than a hundred homes.

The fires come as San Diego County mountains and valleys, along with other parts of Southern California, remain under a red flag warning.

Lilac Fire initially started 1:19 a.m. Jan. 21 in San Diego County. It has burned 85 acres after being active for 47 hours. As of Thursday midnight, the blaze has been fully contained by a fire crew of three.

After a pair of devastating wildfires in Los Angeles County, another series of brush fires broke out later this month in San Diego County -- including the Lilac Fire which burned over 50 acres before firefighters got the upper hand.
