The State of Kansas is holding its annual tornado drill at 10 a.m. Wednesday. But some areas of the state are not taking part.

The drill is part of the state's participation in Severe Weather Preparedness Week 2025, Missouri Storm Aware said.

This week (March 3 through March 7) is Severe Weather Preparedness Week. As part of those efforts, both Missouri and Illinois are holding their annual state-wide tornado drills.In Illinois, the state-wide tornado drill occurred on March 4 at 10 AM.

Mecklenburg County does not use tornado sirens, because it relies on more advanced methods to warn residents about potential tornadoes, Mecklenburg County Emergency Management said. Instead, the county uses Wireless Emergency Alerts and the Emergency Alert System.
