President Joe Biden will meet for a final time this week with Chinese President Xi Jinping as he prepares to hand over power — and the reins of the world’s most consequential bilateral relationship — to president-elect Trump in January.

Right after praising progress made during a meeting between the two leaders, the U.S. President called his Chinese counterpart a dictator in response to a question from the press.

The two leaders hadn't spoken for a year before Wednesday's summit, with relations between Washington and Beijing at their lowest point in decades.
