WASHINGTON -- Logan Thompson made 19 saves, and the Washington Capitals extended their point streak to eight games with a 3-0 win against the Anaheim Ducks at Capital One Arena on Tuesday.

John Gibson made 22 saves for the Ducks, who have lost four of five (1-3-1). Anaheim was shut out for the second time in the past three games after not getting blanked in the first 41 games. Duhaime was credited with the goal that gave Washington a 1-0 lead at 7:34 of the first period.

Ethen Frank added his second NHL goal as Washington won consecutive games for the first time since before the Christmas break.

The Washington Capitals ' start to action at KeyBank Center didn't go as planned against the Buffalo Sabres, as the team was trailing late. But the Capitals did what they've done best all season: stayed in the fight and found a way to escape with a point. Unfortunately, they didn't have enough to get the second one.
