BOISE, Idaho – A magnitude 4.2 earthquake was reported in southern Idaho on Monday morning. The US Geological Survey said the earthquake was reported just after 9:30 a.m. local time about 16 miles west-northwest of Clayton at a depth of about 7 miles.

A 4.2-magnitude earthquake struck central Idaho at around 9:30 a.m. on Monday, January 27. Tremors were felt across Challis, Boise, Meridian, and Clayton. Two minor quakes hit the same region soon after.

Closest to the source, the earthquake was at intensity level 4.5. Sandwich and the Outer Cape experienced the earthquake at a level 3 intensity. The rest of Cape Cod, the South Coast, and parts of Martha's Vineyard experienced the earthquake at a level 2.5 intensity.
