Less than two weeks into the job, Gov. Josh Stein is laying out his priorities in his inaugural address. Stein’s inauguration was canceled over the weekend because of that winter storm, but he addressed the state virtually Saturday.

Gov. Josh Stein pledged in his inaugural address Saturday to continue rebuilding western North Carolina from Hurricane Helene “for as long as it takes,” outlining a range of broad priorities and calling for bipartisan work with the Republican-led legislature.

The winter storm derailed plans for a weekend of inauguration events for North Carolina Democratic Gov. Josh Stein, but he will still give an inaugural speech on Saturday afternoon.

All in-person inaugural celebrations were postponed due to inclement weather conditions, as the Triangle saw its first significant snow in nearly three years. The event was broadcast live to North Carolina residents.
