A police officer was shot by a man, who police say fled a traffic stop, in North Philadelphia. Police said the man then took his own life. The incident started around 9 p.m. Tuesday when two officers attempted to pull the man over near 22nd Street and Lehigh Avenue in Philadelphia's Strawberry Mansion neighborhood.

A police officer was shot in the hand Tuesday night in North Philadelphia and the alleged shooter was dead, apparently from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said. Shortly before 9 p.m., an officer reported that shots were fired in the area of 23rd Street and Indiana Avenue, police said.
