People receiving services from Texas Health and Human Services, and other individuals, may have had sensitive personal information about their health and identity inappropriately accessed or used after a data breach affecting tens of thousands of people.

Over the last year, seven people have been fired from the Texas Health and Human Services Commission after inappropriately accessing the accounts of thousands of Texans -- who get public assistance like food stamps and Medicaid.

The Texas Health and Human Services Commission announced Friday morning that a privacy breach at the agency has exposed the personal information of at least 61,000 Texans, opening them up to potential fraud.
