Winter Storm Watch vs. Warning, what's the difference?
A Winter Storm Watch is put in place when snow, sleet or ice is possible and there is at least a medium confidence in the probability of heavy snowfall, sleet or freezing rain that will have a significant impact. A watch is declared if the criteria is expected to be met within the next 2 to 3 days.
Winter Storm Warning issued for Maryland as snow, freezing temperatures expected
Storm Warning has been issued for all of Maryland with widespread snowfall of 4 to 8 inches expected in some areas. Higher totals of 10 to 12 inches are possible in the state. This will depend on where heavier bands of snowfall set up and move through.
