As the trade deadline draws closer, the Vancouver Canucks and New York Rangers may end up being partners after all following new reports of their interest in a Blueshirts defenseman.

The Rangers appear to be the heavy favorites to acquire Miller, especially since the Carolina Hurricanes, a team linked to the veteran forward, just traded for Mikko Rantanen. The NHL Trade Deadline is on Mar. 7 as the Miller sweepstakes should continue to heat up in the weeks leading up to the big day.

The only reason J.T. Miller is being shopped by the Vancouver Canucks is because of his untenable relationship with star teammate Elias Pettersson. And that should make a team like the New York Rangers pause before trading for the 31-year-old forward. So says NHL insider Darren Dreger of TSN.
