The Metal Gear Solid storyline is set in 2005, when the Outlander was establishing itself in the SUV marketplace. The subsequent Metal Gear Solid titles (2007-2014) unfold alongside the Outlander's continued development, with the third generation launching in 2012.

The SUV concept will premiere at the Tokyo Auto Salon, alongside modified versions of the Triton pickup and the Delica D:5 minivan

Mitsubishi also has several other custom vehicles for this year's Tokyo Auto Salon, including several Tritons and Delica vans.

Overall, the Outlander PHEV Night Seeker Concept would look straight out of the digital world of Metal Gear Solid. But if you think that’s the only vehicle that gets a military-inspired look, Mitsubishi also has the Delica D:5 Black Edition Active Seeker.
