House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Turner, R-Dayton, was abruptly fired from his role by House Speaker Mike Johnson on Wednesday, prompting concerns from some members about President-elect Donald Trump's approach to intervening in Congressional affairs.

Crawford, for his part, blasted what he called abuse of the nation's intelligence agencies that " eroded trust in our institutions and compromised America’s ability to gather intelligence."

Turner, an Ohio Republican and defense hawk, had been appointed to the post by Kevin McCarthy. Mike Johnson is now putting his mark on top committee positions.
