MARION COUNTY, Mo. (WGEM/Gray News) - A man who nearly threw away a winning Powerball ticket is $1 million richer after a news headline reminded him to check the numbers. Missouri Lottery officials say the man saw a news story on his phone about a $1 million winning Powerball ticket that was sold at a FastLane gas station in Taylor, WGEM reports.

A lottery player won $50,000 playing Powerball in Massachusetts on Monday. The winning numbers for the Powerball drawing on Nov. 11 were 3, 21, 24, 34, 46 and Powerball: 9. The multiplier was a 3X. The $50,000 ticket sold in Massachusetts matched four of the first five numbers, and the Powerball number. It was sold in Waltham at a 7-Eleven.

When purchased, the lottery player opted for the $1 Powerplay feature that allows players to multiply a non-jackpot prize up to 10 times. Since the Powerplay rolled 3 during the Nov. 11 drawing, it automatically tripled the third $50,000 prize to $150,000.
