Towamencin Township Supervisor Laura Smith resigned Sunday after a video surfaced showing her making a gesture resembling a Nazi salute. The board has scheduled a special meeting to address the situation.

A Republican official under fire in Pennsylvania for making a Nazi-like salute in a TikTok has resigned from multiple governing positions. Laura Smith, the Towamencin Township supervisor and vice chair of the township’s Board of Supervisors, appeared to mimic Elon Musk in the video she publicly shared Thursday, Jan. 23, according to PennLive.com.

The board said in a statement that it intends to accept Smith’s resignation at its next meeting, adding that it “cannot and will not tolerate such conduct.”
