Former Athens-Clarke County officer Amber Ferguson was arrested by the GBI on child sexual exploitation charges.

An Athens-Clarke police officer was fired Tuesday after warrants were taken in Commerce charging her with a crime against a child.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) made an arrest in a child molestation case out of Bainbridge. On Dec. 5, the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office requested the GBI to investigate allegations that Cory Hall,

Cory Hall, 43-years-old, is charged with five felony counts of child molestation, aggravated child molestation, statutory rape, sodomy and incest, according to the release.

A family member filed a complaint against Amber Nicole Ferguson, 33, of Commerce. According to the GBI, Ferguson a former officer with the Athens-Clarke County Police Department was accused of taking sexually explicit pictures of a child.

Ferguson, a 33-year-old from Commerce, Georgia, surrendered to authorities at the Jackson County Jail on Monday, Jan. 15 at 8 a.m.
